Portrait week!

Hello everyone, I saw these style photos underneath one of the links but I still am not positive their significance to portrait taking even after reading about them. The reson however I chose this style is not because it is the easiest but because I really do have an eye fascination; you can tell so much about someone by their eyes because like I have heard before ;the eyes reveal which the heart hides.

Week 13 final

CLICK ON THE SLIDE SHOW TO ENLARGE AND READ TEXT!

Photo #1 I used gimp and its bucket fill option along with its add text option to manipulate this photo
Photo # 2 I used gimp and its filter entitled light and shadow then went into lighting effects and used option one I continued by changing the color to blue and the position it appeared to create the illusion of police lights on the rear of the truck I also used the add text option
Photo #3 I used gimp as well as its hue/lightness and saturation option. I manually adjusted the settings to be HUE: -180, LIGHTNESS: - 100 and the SATURATION to -100 as well to form more of a black and white image I then continued to use the add text option as well.
Photo #4 I used gimp and a filter named neon under the edge detect option along with the add text option.
Photo #5 I used gimp, I first began by using colorify which is located under the colors tab and what this does is allows you to pick a color and then it replaces the original photos colors with different shades of the color you chose next under colors again I chose posterize which is used to minimize the amount of gradients used. In the ending result I chose to use shades of green and changed the posterize level to 3
Photo #6 I played with the brightness-contrast options setting the brightness to 39 and the contrast to 101 ultimaetly giving the photo a kind of antique look to it.
Photo #7 I added 3 layers to the original for a total of 4 layers all it took was going to the layers tab choosing add layer then in the toolbox choosing the move tool to move each layer. on the last layer I created I also decided to invert the colors and add a filter entitled supernova to it I also added text using the add text tool.
Photo #8 I added another filter called a mosaic which is located under the distort sub-menu of filters I decided to use a triangular mosaic as opposed to a rectangle or circles simply because I like it the most I also added text using the add text tool.
Photo # 9 I chose to use gimps color selection tab and from there I used a tool known as a value invert where it inverts the brightness of a colors pixel. I also chose to use the text tool as well.
Photo # 10 In my final frame photo #10 I used the blur tool and blurred out the Samuel Adams which was embroidered on my hat other than that I used the color picker tool in conjunction with the auto bucket fill tool

Week 10

Clone tool, before:

After:

For the Clone process I played with the tool for a while finding myself dissapointed in it because It wouldnt do anything the further I explored I noticed text at the bottom of the screen giving me step by step instructions on how to use the tool so from then on in it was click shoot swipe.

Text, Before

After:

The text process was rather simple something to which I have been doing for years so there wasnt really any ah ha! moments about it the on thing I have found interesting however is how with all the years that have passed it seems as though the text tool has remained the same no matter which program you are using to manipulate photos.

Paint, Before

After:

Hi guys, this actually I think was the assignment I have had fun with most I primarily used the bucket fill tool for most of it however I did use a paintbrush on some of it as well pretty self explanitory process but I believe the colors I chose work together and contrast nicely.

Week 9 Filters

Before

After

Before

After

Hello Everyone, first off, the first photo is the original but in the upper left hand corner I added a filter to the original known as supernova and chose the option to save intead of save as so it replaced my original also with the first set of photos I added a filter known as a gamma affect plus the supernova which I think gives it a pretty neat little extra and would make people think the sun must have been out. The second set of photos I incorporated a cartoon and a lens flare filter to the photo and I do believe it came out pretty neat looking.

Week 9 Dodge and Burn

After

Before

Hi Everyone I used the Microsoft paint program to to creat this shape then opened it in gimp basically using the burn method to shade the thin black lines which in a way makes some depth to the photo, I then proceeded with the dodge option using different size brushes and so forth I was able to lighten the the thick blue giving it a faded affect.

Week 8 Light and Color adjustments

AFTER

BEFORE

Hello everyone for these two photos I used a variety of methods using photoshop with no single intent for the outcome of them at all. The methods I used consisted of Cranking the saturation completely up after that I went on to do the same with the fill light, high light and sharpen options I then continued to fully pop the color and eneded with moving the hue up just one notch. I believe by using these methods It gave the ocean a brilliant blueish purpleish tint to it and it also affected the sky brilliantly ultimaetly making the sky mesh with the ocean in a way never seen before.

AFTER

BEFORE

I actually took on these photos with an intention, that intention being to try and make the letters of my hat the beer bottles and my buddies hoodie really stand out, how I did this was by first using the auto correct feature and moving it forward one notch followed by adjusting the white balance up by two places then moving on to the Highlight, sharpen and soft focus options and moving them all to their Highest value I then continued to do the same with the hue and moved the tint up by four values and for the finishing touch which I think made the most dramatic change to the photo is I turned it into a sketch which really outlined the letters in the photo.

While using photoshop this week it really brought me back to being a kid using the old televisions with the huge dials that went click click click everytime you turnded the know. :)
